I just love the roots... |
I took a fare in my taxi-cab to Peckham Rye last night and dropped the chap off at the beginning of Forest Hill Road which just happens to be a SE22 postcode and what did I find but a rather nice row of local shops and a matching row of terracotta coloured tall bollards. More to my amazement was on turning taxi-cab around and heading back to central London I noticed these beautiful, yes beautiful examples of painted bollards (bollart).
There I was singing the praises of the 'bollart' in Paris then Manchester and has luck would have it we have fine dandy looking examples here in South London.

Bollards (bollart) of London...
You should put out a call for photos of bollards that have been yarn bombed. Yes, "yarn bombing" is the act of knitting cozies for public street furniture including statues, bike racks, lamp posts, trees and bollards. These colorful bollards reminded me of the recent phenomenon. You can see examples of it at yarnboming.com.
ReplyDeletehaha! i painted those! Glad you like em- those 3 were actually test examples and the whole set along the street were ment to bee painted with that design, with the rose growing from one end of the street to the other from seed to full bloom, but there were some issues with street furntiure redesigns with the councl/authorities and the project got kind of shelved- nice that they are so popular tho... this is my art website www.mORGANICo.cOM cheers! morganic
