Just off Blackfriars Road you will find Union Street and a rather new small busy little community of cafes and bars serving the rather odd looking Palestra Building which happens to house many staff who work for Transport for London.
Around the back of the building I happened to come across these concrete monsters guarding a rather odd brick/stone area that wouldn't look out of place on the moon. What is that lump in the background ( I thought the "Clangers" might pop out any moment). The bollards are square based rise slightly so not to be cubed in shape and then they have a domed (semi-circular) top.
These concrete bollards are huge in size and are a real eyesore in fact they blight the local area and must have cost a considerable sum of money. Now if you thought we were having problems with the odd bollard in London do click on the link below and have a look at what's happening else where in the UK.
The 147th.
